Melt Belly Fat by Boosting Your Metabolism
Can you permanently kill your Metabolism?
Has that yo-yo weight gain/loss from too many fad diets
caused your metabolism to fail in its duty?
Are you just to the point of accepting that you will always
be overweight because you now have a slow metabolism?
Is the sudden appearance of belly fat in
your over 40 body got you thinking your metabolism is
broken?
The simple answer to all these questions is building
muscle. It may be rebuilding muscle lost by
inactivity.
The rebuilding of muscle is commonly called weight
training.
You don't need a bowflex or a gym membership to start your
weight training program. You can start with 2 equal
weight cans of vegetables. They are not as comfortable to
hold as hand weights but they will work.
Every little bit of muscle you rebuild will increase your
metabolism rate.
You can use your own body to build muscle. You can use
a system called isometrics. The simple act of sucking in
your stomach as hard as you can and holding for a 20 second
count, builds the muscles that hold that belly flat.
The muscles in your torso are called the core muscles. You
use those muscles to stand up and sit up. They are there
and you can increase the strength of those muscles and melt
belly fat in the process.
Aerobic exercise increases your metabolism for an extended
period after you stop exercising. Even a simple brisk
walk around the block will increase your metabolism.
Bottom line is don't blame your metabolism rate for a
bulging belly. Yes you can melt your belly fat by
increasing your metabolism, but you need to work on
strengthening your core muscles in order to hold your abdominal
area flat.
Remember that metabolism also keys off eating and insulin
levels. So you must remember to eat - skipping meals will turn
off the metabolism temporarily to satisfy the brain's commands
that the body is in starvation mode.
That is the reason 6 small meals a day is recommended.
Your brain will allow the release of fat because obviously food
is plentiful. Eating foods with a low GI will keep the insulin
levels from spiking. High insulin levels prevent the stored fat
from being burned up as fuel.
