Nuts and Seeds
Ok, maybe this belongs in Diet but maybe if you learned to
think of Nuts and Seeds as a necessary supplement -- you might
just feel better and look better. In the battle to offset the
bad fats a handful of nuts and seeds can go a long way.
By now, it's pretty well known that nuts and seeds contain
the good kind of fat, the kind that can lower blood cholesterol
levels. That benefit comes from phytosterols, natural chemicals
found in this food group.
Now, a study published in the
Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry lets us know
which nuts and seeds pack the healthiest phytosterol
punch...with pistachios and sunflower seeds coming out
on top. Other high scorers included pumpkin seeds
(a.k.a. pepitas), almonds, and macadamia nuts.
