Weight Loss and the Belly Fat
Have you noticed that most people will include abdominal
muscle exercises in their routines and yet they can never own
that coveted 6 pack abs. Did you know that your abdominal
muscle is one of the easiest muscles to build? The
problem is that exercising a muscle does not get rid of fat
over or around the muscle.
It is important that you exercise your
core group of muscles, the major muscle groups which include
your legs and back.
You should do some type of stomach exercises but do not make
AB exercises the only part of your muscle building routine.
Just improving your posture by sucking in your stomach and
standing up straight will help. You can increase your
metabolism (burn more fat and lose weight) if you do a total
body muscle building routine.
In one recent study, researchers measured insulin resistance
and compared it to several risk factors for diabetes in men and
women: 1)heart-lung fitness; 2) whole-body fatness and 3)
abdominal obesity (Diabetes Care, March 2006). Getting rid of
belly fat is a big key to wellness and a long healthy life.
Many women think if they do a 1000 sit-ups a day that will
get rid of that protruding belly. Since very few of us are
willing or able to do a 1000 sit-ups, there is little research
to prove that those sit-ups will not do the job. You would have
nice firm muscles but they would still be surrounded by
fat.
Too many women after they turn 30 tend to eat less
protein and what they don't realize is that protein helps keep
your metabolism high. Protein is available from many other
sources besides red meat so put that protein back in your
diet.
By adjusting your diet to include more proteins and
continuing to do your core muscle exercises you will get the
weight lose and that includes losing the belly fat.
You have to eat something to get that metabolism
going. The question is what do you eat and how
much. Protein is essential. Vegetables and fruits
are essential. Potatoe chips and french fries are
not. You burn fat to fuel the muscle energy and you
already have excess fat to provide that fuel. So eat lean and
let your fat stores be your major fuel source.
By building more muscle you become a more efficient energy
burning machine which means you will burn more fat to fuel that
energy.
