Stubborn Belly Fat
We all know that in attacking the belly fat problem, step one is adjusting your diet. If you are like most people you have been concentrating on getting fewer carbs and fat. Ok, but there is one fat you must delete all together. Trans Fats, a modern invention that is killing you as well as making you fat.
So you have been trying to avoid trans fats. You are maybe reading a few labels but mostly it is a lot of trouble and after all just how bad can trans fats be. Consider ----
Trans fats can actually make you fatter than other foods with the same number of calories.
Trans fats increase the amount of fat around your stomach, not just by adding new fat, but also by moving the stored fat from other areas directly to your belly.
There was a study of 51 monkeys, fed a diet consisting of 35 percent fat. Half receiving a diet that included 8 percent trans fat and the others half receiving unsaturated fats, like olive oil.
Both diets were calorie-controlled, and it was assumed that both groups would gain the same amount of weight.
By the end of the study (six years later), the monkeys who ate unsaturated fats saw a 1.8-percent increase in their body weight. The monkeys who at the most trans fats saw a 7.2-percent increase. All fats are not equal.

Ok, you are convinced and will eliminate trans fats from your diet. However, let me warn you that these days, trying to cut them out of your diet is pretty hard. Those trans fats are found just about everywhere, especially in fast-food restaurants. They're also pretty abundant in vegetable oils, some kinds of margarine, and store bought baked goods like cookies, crackers, and snack foods.
The best advice is to avoid anything prepackaged. Trans fats are often found in foods as a preservative. It goes without saying that you should stay away from fast food.
To add to the problem, the FDA does not require a food manufacturer to label the food as containing trans fats if the percentage is less than 1. It doesn't take too many serving of less than 1 to add up to more than 1.
Is the fast lane we all travel just leading up to an early death? We are overwhelmed with so many demands on our time that fast food and prepackaged meals have become a standard rather than an emergency measure or a treat.
For the people out there with young children, a job or two, not enough money to keep up with the neighbors and the youth to believe they will live forever and bad things happen to other people not them....take heed. You are not only undermining your own health, you are abusing your children. Will they even have the time to grow up and produce children of their own.
For those of us who are older and perhaps looking at a coming retirement, well just how is your health? Could you walk a couple of miles? Has your belly blossomed into a beast that restricts your breathing and puts you in a size too big clothes?
Everything in life is a choice. You choose --- good food and exercise --- or an early disease ridden painful death.
